Cookies + Crafts Birthday Party 🎉

How I celebrated my 31st birthday!

Last weekend I celebrated my 31st birthday with a Cookies and Crafts party! I had all my friends bring their favorite cookie and we did an epic cookie tasting with cookies from pastry shops and kitchens around the city.

I ordered every kind of Levain cookie

My personal favorite was my friend Caroline Saunders’ peanut butter miso cookie. She’s a Le Cordon Bleu trained pastry chef and it was heavenly! Here’s the NYT cooking recipe if you want it! 

Last year I did a Cupcakes and Cartoons birthday where I hired Hilary Fitzgerald Campbell, a New Yorker cartoonist, to teach my friends how to make cartoons. It was truly my favorite birthday! This year was just as lovely. Filled with sunshine, sweets, friendship, puppies, and babies. What’s not to love! 

Some people are birthday people and others aren’t- I definitely am. I use my birthday as an excuse to gather my friends once a year and share an experience together. 

My birthday is also a great halfway point in the year to think about how I want to spend the next 6 months of 2024. I did a quick scan of my 2024 intentions and goals list to see how I’m stacking up on those. This week I’m going to make a 6 month goal list and spend some time zooming out to see what I want my 31st year to represent.

Creativity feels like the biggest word for me right now. Helping others unlock their own creativity and continuing to explore my own creative process both feel really rejuvenating.
