Book launch events
The official book launch event is on March 10 at the Rizzoli bookstore in New York. For the launch, my best friend in the world, Abi Inman, will be interviewing me. She does visuals at NPR and previously worked at Atlas Obscura. We’ll be talking about the stories behind some of my favorite places in the book. If you live in NY and want to come, I’d love to see you there! You can RSVP here.
I’m doing a virtual event with the non-profit Quiet Communities on March 5. I’ve been their artist-in-residence for the past year. I’ll be speaking with their Executive Director, Jamie Banks, about the inspiration behind the book. You can RSVP here.
A look inside the book
Now that it’s for sale, you can see a few of the pages publicly here.
How I’m feeling today
I’ve spent months doing the hard work and prep leading up to this day. So today, I feel weirdly calm. I’ve been imagining it on bookshelves for the past year, and I cannot wait to go see it in the real world.
Thank you 💖
I wanted to share my acknowledgments (which you can read in the sample from my Amazon page here or when your book arrives) because there are so many people to thank for making this book possible.
Thank you to everyone who has supported my art for years, read this Substack, and been a source of encouragement and inspiration. I am forever grateful!

Very appealing! Like to think of my life growing up in NYCity as a little girl when it WAS quieter, and the changes through the decades. [I've always lived in or near the City.]
Wonderful! Congratulations! I had my own list of quiet and restorative places created over time and necessity, when I lived there for 10 years. It would have been great to have your book when I first moved there.
