Climate coloring book: update 1
Y'all are amazing. Thank you so much for all the ideas and enthuisiasm!
Hi friends!
Greetings from a tiny airport in Florida! I’m getting ready to fly back to NYC and I wanted to send over a short and sweet note to you.
I wanted to thank you all for the incredible support and excitement for my idea of creating a climate coloring book! I was blown away by the thoughtful replies and enthusiasm. It gives me so much energy. I really believe in co-creating my art in community and this project is another example of how I want to continue to do so.
Quite honestly, I’m slightly overwhelmed by how to process all the ideas! They are so varied and amazing. Right now I’m thinking that this could be a series of books with a unique theme for each (renewable energy, nature based solutions, climate justice, etc). We shall see, I’ll keep y’all updated as I continue to noodle!
I’m also trying to figure out how it will look aesthetically because I’m known for my bright colorful style and a coloring book inherently would be black and white, allowing you all to create the colors! I love that obviously, but when it will be for sale it may look fairly simple. Just something to think about for now.
I’m wrapping up this 2 week family vacation and it was a really nice reset. I created one of my most detailed pieces this week about vegetarian protein sources and I’m really proud of it. Someone suggested I turn it into a kitchen towel and I’m jazzed about that idea. I’m gonna work on tessellating it next week so I could print it on a bunch of fun stuff.
On to the section of reflection!
